The Glasgow Chamber Choir returns to St Margaret’s with a programme of British Cathedral favourites – classics by Parry, Stanford and Vaughan Williams balance more recent works by Walton and Jonathan Dove. The exhuberance of Parry’s setting of Milton’s “Blest Pair of Sirens” sits alongside Walton’s setting of W. H Auden’s poem “The Twelve”. Composed just 10 years ago, Jonathan Dove’s melodic and accessible “Missa Brevis” is a new classic of the cathedral repertoire.
PARRY – Blest pair of sirens
WALTON – The Twelve
DOVE – Missa Brevis
STANFORD – Magnificat for Double Choir
VAUGHAN WILLIAMS – Toward the unknown region
