In April we link up for the fourth time with our Dutch partner choir, St Joris Kamerkoor from the town of Amersfoort, to present a powerful programme of choral music by Bruckner and Mahler in St Michael’s Church in Linlithgow.

St Michael’s is one of the largest and most historic parish churches in Scotland and will be a perfect setting for Bruckner’s monumental Mass in E Minor for double choir, accompanied by brass and woodwind players from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The joint choirs will also perform two arrangements of songs by Mahler for eight and sixteen voices, Urlicht, from Das Knaben Wunderhorn, and Ich bin der Welt abhanden kommen.

Alongside these 19th century works, each choir will sing repertoire by contemporary composers: Glasgow Chamber Choir will sing the powerful cantata written by Finnish composer Mantyjarvi to commemorate the sinking of the Estonia in 1997, while St Joris Kamerkoor perform James MacMillan’s Miserere.
