DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Viennese themed programme in November where we will be performing some beautiful pieces at St Margaret’s Scottish Episcopal Church in Glasgow. \nAs we approach the centenary of the Armistice which brought the Great War to a close\, Glasgow Chamber Choir present a performance of Mozart’s haunting Requiem\, performed at the composer’s own funeral in Vienna in 1791. Alongside this masterwork\, the choir will sing other Viennese choral music by Johannes Brahms and Arnold Schoenberg. \nBRAHMS – Geistliches Lied / Fest- und Gedenkspruche / Three sacred pieces Op. 37\nSCHOENBERG – Friede auf Erden Op. 13 (Peace on earth)\nMOZART – Requiem (in the completion by Robert Levin)\nChristopher Nickol – organ\nMichael Bawtree – conductor\nTickets will be available on the door. \nHave a listen to the pieces we’re performing on Spotify: \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Glasgow Chamber Choir are very excited to be perfoming War Horse: The Story in Concert at the Usher Hall\, along with our friends from the Edinburgh University Chamber Choir. \nThis performance combines Michael Morpurgo’s emotionally-charged story narrated live by the author\, with specially arranged music performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. \nThe tragedy of war\, the beauty of peace – and the enduring power of friendship. \nAward-winning author Michael Morpurgo reads his emotionally-charged War Horse live\, alongside specially arranged score by Adrian Sutton performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra\, and video artwork featuring drawings by acclaimed artist Rae Smith. \nWhen young Albert’s beloved horse Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped to the horrific brutality of First World War France\, the boy embarks on a perilous mission to find him again – and bring him home. \nMichael Morpurgo’s captivating novel has touched the hearts of millions with its tale of deep friendship surviving amid the horrors of war. It has been transformed into both an award-winning stage show by the National Theatre\, and a critically acclaimed film directed by Steven Spielberg. \nIn the month marking the centenary of the end of the conflict\, this special event returns War Horse to its original conception.
